Casual (walk in possible off peak)
- Munich Brauhaus at The Rocks. Big group friendly, walk in possible on weeknights.
- The Australian Heritage Hotel. Pizza and pub food, right in The Rocks foot traffic.
- Pancakes on the Rocks. Kid friendly, open late, does not need a booking.
Barangaroo
Barangaroo has the newest Vivid programming and the least stretched food scene. Book here if The Rocks is full.
- Bel and Brio. Italian, waterfront tables, does group bookings.
- House Made Hospitality venues (Bea, Banksii, Loulou, Promenade). Range of price points, all within a five minute walk of the Barangaroo Vivid installations.
- Barangaroo House. Three levels, from casual to upscale. Book the ground floor for walk in flexibility.
Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour is Vivid's family friendly zone with the drone shows and interactive light installations. It also has the most food court fatigue. A few standouts worth walking to.
- Cirrus Dining. Seafood, waterfront, upscale.
- The Malaya. King Street Wharf, does group and family bookings well.
- Nick's Bar and Grill. Classic Darling Harbour, reliable menu, kid friendly.
The apartment and home option (best value)
Sydney's Eastern Suburbs high rises, Pyrmont apartment blocks, and CBD residential towers all have views of parts of Vivid without leaving the balcony. If you are hosting Vivid friends or family in an apartment with any east or west facing view, the smartest play is to eat at home first, then walk in for the lights at peak hour without being hungry.
