Engagement parties are about the people, the speeches, the photos. Not the plates. The food has to be good enough that guests remember it, and easy enough that it doesn't pull you out of the moment. Most catering forces a choice between the two. Empanadas don't. Handheld, individually portioned, works hot or at room temperature, photographs beautifully on a grazing board, and tastes like something you'd actually order at a restaurant.

They scale from an intimate dinner for twenty to a full venue for two hundred. We deliver baked, timed to your guests' arrival, or sent frozen for you to bake at 190°C in 18 to 22 minutes. For the more traditional Argentinian finish, we fry in beef tallow on request. Add our fresh salads to round out a proper meal, or set them on a long table next to the champagne and watch them go.

The two most common engagement mistakes are canapes that are too small (guests still hungry, drinks hit harder), and finger food that is too obvious (soggy sausage rolls). Empanadas are properly filling without being heavy. Two empanadas equal a meaningful bite, three equal a soft main. On a long grazing table with cheeses, olives, chimichurri, and a bottle of Malbec, they read as Argentinian, considered, and beautiful.

Delivery and timing for engagements

Baked delivery holds warm for 90 minutes in insulated bags. For engagement parties starting at 6pm, we recommend 5:30pm delivery so the venue can plate them at 6:00pm sharp. For garden engagements at Palm Beach or Woollahra, we deliver to the address, unload at the kitchen, and leave the venue coordinator with a warming instruction card. For a restaurant private room booking, tell us the venue name and F&B contact and we will coordinate directly.

Dietary options for a mixed engagement guest list

Patagonia is fully vegan. Classic is vegetarian. Carnivore is halal (sourced halal beef, no formal certification). Halal Athlete and Habibi Yalla on request for large catering orders. Gluten-free options are available for large catering orders on request with a week's notice. For an engagement with 60 guests and a mixed Christian, Muslim, and vegan guest list, our recommendation is 40 percent Carnivore (halal beef), 20 percent chicken (Athlete), 20 percent Classic (vegetarian), 20 percent Patagonia (vegan). Yes. Bellevue Hill, Vaucluse, Rose Bay, Double Bay, Point Piper, Woollahra, and Paddington are all in our standard delivery zone. Tell us the venue at booking.

Can you cater an engagement dinner at a restaurant private room?

Yes. We coordinate with the venue F&B lead directly. Common venues we deliver to include The Grounds of Alexandria, Icebergs Dining Room, Otto Ristorante, Fratelli Paradiso, and Bathers Pavilion. Confirm with the venue that they permit external catering first.

What is the going rate for engagement catering per person?

Empanadas run $5 per unit. At 3 to 4 per guest for cocktail service, budget $15 to $20 per person on food. This sits below Sydney engagement catering benchmarks ($40 to $80 per person) while feeling premium.

Do you provide dietary tags for guests?

Yes. Every catering delivery comes with dietary tags for vegan, vegetarian, and halal (Carnivore is halal beef, sourced halal without formal certification). For very allergen-sensitive guests, ask for individual dietary cards at booking.

Can we upgrade to fried empanadas in beef tallow?

Yes. Traditional Argentinian street style. Available on request for catering orders of 60 empanadas or more. Delivered hot in insulated bags, best served within an hour.
