Why the food shouldn't be the focus

At a wake, most people don't want to talk about the food. They want it to be there, to be enough, and to not require any thought. The families I've worked with consistently tell me the same thing after: we didn't want to have to explain anything, or serve anything, or clean anything up. We just wanted people fed.

• Variety. All 5 flavours in one box is enough. You don't need 4 separate caterers.
• Presentation. Empanadas on a wooden board or plain platter is right. Elaborate plating feels off.
• Impressive food. This isn't a dinner party. Comfort matters more than sophistication.
• Timing precision. Empanadas are warm for 90 minutes after delivery, still good at room temperature after that. If the service runs long, the food waits.

Timing and location

Most Sydney wakes we cater run 1 to 2 hours after the service. Food landing 30 minutes before mourners arrive gives you buffer. Common delivery locations we cover:
