Patagonia is Argentum's vegan empanada with grilled mushroom, spinach, kale, carrot, garlic and onion folded with potato cheese, wrapped in our signature green dough, made in Bondi Beach and delivered frozen across Sydney. Bake from frozen at 190°C for 18 to 22 minutes.

Pack of twelve Patagonia empanadas. Fully vegan. Grilled mushroom, spinach, kale, carrot, garlic and onion folded with potato cheese. Wrapped in our signature green dough, the same recipe used in Argentinian kitchens for generations.

Made in our Bondi Beach kitchen and frozen fresh to lock in flavour. Classic Argentinian half-moon shape with a zig-zag repulgue seal. No thawing needed.

How to bake:
Bake from frozen at 190°C for 18 to 22 minutes, until golden and crisp.

The vegan empanada that converted meat eaters. Proof that plant based does not have to be a compromise.

Vegan without the disclaimer

Patagonia is the empanada we serve to committed vegans and card-carrying carnivores at the same table. Nobody spots which is which. Mushrooms are grilled first, so they carry a proper savoury weight. Spinach, kale and carrot come in for green, sweet and colour. Potato cheese binds it all together with a soft, creamy pull.

The green dough is not for decoration. It is coloured with spinach folded into the pastry, the way certain regional cocinas in Argentina distinguish vegetable empanadas from meat at a glance. It is also how you know which one is safe on a mixed catering platter.

What is inside

Grilled mushroom, spinach, kale, carrot, onion, garlic and potato cheese, wrapped in a spinach-tinted wheat pastry. Fully vegan and fully vegetarian. Contains wheat gluten.

What to drink with it

Style Pick Why it works
Wine Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc, or a dry Patagonian rosé Green herb notes meet the kale and spinach directly.
Beer Sydney lager or a lighter pale ale Bright and clean, does not fight the mushrooms.
Non-alcoholic Sparkling water with lemon, or yerba mate Cuts through the earthy mushroom.
Sauce Pedro's Chimichurri (jar, sold separately, vegan) Herbs and vinegar are the natural partner for grilled vegetables.

When to serve it

Occasion How to plate it
Vegan dinner party Three per person, with a big leaf salad and chimichurri.
Work lunch Two in a lunch box, warm or room temperature.
Mixed-dietary catering The vegan option that everyone at the table will still want to try.
Picnic Bake ahead, pack in foil, serves well at room temperature.

How many it feeds

Twelve empanadas feed 3 to 4 people as a full meal or 4 to 5 people as finger food. For larger vegan or mixed-dietary orders, look at the Chef's Box ($85) or a full catering order.

Bake reminder

Straight from freezer to a preheated oven at 190°C for 18 to 22 minutes. The green dough will crisp and turn a slightly deeper green. No egg wash needed to keep it vegan.

Started an asado with friends and decided to open with a few boxes from Argentum. Best decision we made. The Carnivore was the standout, everyone agreed.
Nicolas M. Carnivore
Ordered for a picnic with friends, the Carnivore is my favourite. Would highly recommend.
Lisa de Rooij Carnivore
I used to grab a pie from the bakery, but Argentum has completely replaced that for me. Lighter dough, premium fillings, baked not fried. Way more flavour.
